Making life better from the foundation up.
Our Approach
Built on Trust. Guided by Craftsmanship.
At J Welsh Construction, a well-built home starts with a well-built relationship. Our process is clear, collaborative and grounded in doing things the right way from the first conversation to long after we hand over the keys.
Consultation
We begin with an on-site meeting to understand your vision, priorities and the story behind your build. From there, we prepare a thoughtful preliminary proposal that outlines scope, considerations and next steps.
Design & Team Alignment
We bring together trusted architects, designers, engineers and local partners to develop a plan that’s both beautiful and buildable. Together, we establish budgets, timelines and expectations so every detail is aligned from the start.
Permits & Pre-Construction Planning
We manage the permitting process on your behalf and coordinate all pre-construction details, ensuring materials, schedules and trades are organized for a smooth, efficient build.
Construction
This is where craftsmanship comes to life. Our team oversees the entire build with precision, communication and care. We work with experienced trades who share our commitment to quality — keeping your project on track without compromising on the details that matter.
Completion & Continued Care
Our relationship doesn’t end at the final walkthrough. We provide warranty documentation, maintenance information, and ongoing check-ins to ensure your home continues to perform beautifully. We stand behind our work and beside our clients long after the build is complete.
Founder, Jayson Welsh
“I enjoy what I do. I believe in fostering straightforward, truthful working relationships.”
Born and raised in the Comox Valley, Jayson has spent more than three decades shaping homes and earning a reputation for quality, integrity and doing things right.
He began his career in 1993 with McSween Equities, a respected local builder specializing in custom homes and renovations. Mentored by Dave McSween, Jayson learned the fundamentals that still guide his work today: build with intention, respect the trade and take pride in every detail. He completed his apprenticeship and earned his Red Seal in Carpentry in 1999.
A move to Alberta broadened his skills and introduced him to advanced building techniques, particularly in framing, a discipline that became one of his strengths.
Returning to the Comox Valley in 2003, Jayson subcontracted in foundations, framing and siding. In 2005, he completed his first spec home, which sold before construction was finished, an early marker of his growing reputation.
Under J Welsh Construction Ltd. from 2005 to 2009, Jayson delivered custom homes, renovations and his first commercial projects. During the 2009 downturn, he joined Crown Isle Homes as Construction Manager, a role he held for 15 years, overseeing more than 125 homes, 30 mini homes and countless renovations.
In March 2025, Jason proudly relaunched J Welsh Construction Ltd., returning to hands-on building and reconnecting with the craft that inspired him from the start. His first major renovation, featuring three additions and a timber-frame entrance sets the tone for this new chapter.
Today, Jayson brings decades of experience, trusted leadership and a deep love for building back to the community he calls home.
